FATAL FIRE

CATHOLIC PRIEST KILLED. Gore, May 13. The Riversdale Catholic presbytery of four rooms was destroyed by fire early this morning. The housekeeper had a narrow escape. The Rev. Father Daniel O’Neill, aged 40 years perished in the flames. The remains of Father O’Neill were discovered in the ruins in the morning. The Rev. Father Daniel O’Neill, aged 40 years, was a popular and well-known priest in Otago and Southland. He served in Roxburgh and South Dunedin (where his brothers are living) and at Gore. The origin of the blaze is a mystery.
