HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION
WEEKLY MEETING. The weekly meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held last evening in Levin, the president (Mr K. Nash) being in the chair. There were also present Messrs Hardy, H. Hutchins. F. Robinson, O’Rourke, Riimner, Dimock and the secretary' (Mr L. Carmichael). It was decided that any club which did not send in to the Union last year’s balance sheet before the 4-i May be disqualified. In the case of balance-sheets received a number were referred back to the clubs in order to be audited. The secretary brought up the question of the Maori Advisory Board picking men from the Union for Maori matches and not advising the Union of the fact. The trouble would sometimes conflict with the Union’i fixtures and he would suggest that the Advisory Board be asked to notify the Union at least six weeks before taking players.—Adopted. Mr Hutchins moved that a North v. South game be played within the Union iu. order to enable the selectors to pick the best representative team possible in view of the number of rep. games to be played. The chairman supported this, suggesting, however, that an Av. B. team gamer should be played. This would be practically a Probable v. Possible game and would not destroy the combination of the rep. team. He moved an amendment in Ibis direction. The secretary advocated a North v. South as causing more interest within the Union. He contended that the teams could he allocated so as to make the game even. Mr Robinson suggested that the game be a Maori v. Pakehas. The amendment being carried the .M crelary moved a further amendment that a Northern v. Southern rep. game be played and it be left to the selectors to arrange teams. The amendment was lost and the motion carried that a Probable v. Possibles game be played. It was decided that a rep. Junior grade Possible v. Probable game be played a.- a curtain-raiser to the -onior match.
It wa> also decided that the Thirds be given a lep. game as soon as possible, Mr Delany lo be pointed selector for the Northern end and Mr Dimock for the Southern subject to theii approval. A hearty vote of to the chair and to Mr Nash for the use of his rooms concluded the ‘meeting.
