SHOCKING BURNING FATALITY

CHILD FALLS IN OPEN FIRE.

A shocking burning fatality occurred on Tuesday afternoon, the victim being the year and eleven months old son of Mr and Mrs Allred Smith, of Harbour Street. It appears that the child wandered into a neighbour's yard where I here was an open lire used for heating water in tins for washing. Xo one saw the; child fall into the lire but the smell of burning hair atl raeted attention. No cry was heard from the child. The little one, when rescued, was terribly burnt on one side of the face. Medical aid was immediately summoned and the child removed to the Palmerston N. hospital whpre it succumbed yesterday. An inquest will be held in Palmerston N. to-day.
