MARCH WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of March was 501,600 ft., which with the amount in the holder on March 31st, 12000 ft.., made a total of 513,600 ft. During the month 385,400 ft. were used by consumers, 23,000 ft. in street lamps, 28,000 ft. at the works and there was 37,400 ft. in the holder on April Ist., making a total of 463,800 ft. and leaving 49,800 ft., representing 9.5 per cent., unaccounted for. Forty-five tons of coal was carbonised during the month, producing 11,146 e.ft. to the ton. The receipts for the mouth totalled £250 10/2, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £lll 32/6, heat and power £IOO 11s 2d. coke sales £6 7/10, tar sales 10/-, fittings £29 9/4, miscellaneous £1 19/4.
The expenditure totalled £239 2s 2d, and was made up as follows: — Coal £lls, salaries and wages £SO 14/11, insurance £8 15/-, cartage and freight £2 0/7, telephone £3, Interest and sinking fund £59 11/8.
