SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
Dargavilie, May b. The Mayor (Ms it. id. iiornbiow) presided over a public meeting held last night to make arrangements tor the Australian and i\ew Zealand sculling championship lo be rowed uu the Northern YVairou itiver, tor which two contestants, McDevitt and Ueruiti, are already training on the river. Amongst the other arrangements made it was decided that the course be mites and the stake £SUO. The date oi the race was not iinally decided upon, but it is expected that it will he at the end oi the iirst week in dune. It is claimed that the event will be the biggest tiling oi its bind ever held in the Dominion. Many entries have been received from prominent scullers in Australia and New Zealand.
