FOXTON WHARF AND HARBOUR BOARD.
COMPLETE CONTROL .ADVOCATED.

A -special, meeting of the local the Chamber of Commerce was held .last, night to discuss the subject, of local wharf control. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mr D. Christie, president.
It was explained that at present the handling and sorting of goods arriving through the port was controlled by the Railway Department, whereas tlie general opinion favoured the Harbour Board taking complete control.
After some discussion the following motion, moved by Mr Winstanley, and seconded by Mi* C. Pearson, was carried unanimously:—
“That this Chamber endorses the action of the Foxton Harbour Board in their endeavour to gain control from the Railway Department of all sea-borne goods through the port of Foxton and urges them to continue their efforts in this direction.” It was decided to send a copy of the resolution to all district bodies served by shipping through this port for their endorsement.
