P. AND T. OFFICERS’ DEMANDS.
CABINET DETERS CONSIDERATION TILL RAILWAY STRIKE OVER. " WHOLE MATTER REFERRED TO THE SERVICE.” The Postmaster-General has made his considered reply to the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association’s objections to the new salary schedules, in so doing he states that the association’s proposals would involve an additional expenditure of £454,277 a year. He also says that Cabinet has decided not to consider the association's requests further - until the railway strike has been dealt with. The association has issued a reply to the Minister in which it states that it has now no other recourse but to refer the whole matter to the service.
