Manawatu Herald THURSDAY, APRIL 24, 1924 HARBOUR BOARD’S OPPORTUNITY.
EXCEPTING that the Railway Department will lose a small amount of revenue and responsibility, their is little else in the change over at the local wharf in connection with the handling 1 of goods temporarily to be undertaken by the Harbour Board. The Board will he faced with a certain amount of inconvenience for lack of accommodation for sorting purposes, as the railway goods shed 'cannot be used. The Board, however, have, a pudding which could he enlarged for storage purposes in the meantime. We believe that it would be to the advantage of all concerned if the Board now agitated for complete control instead of the present unsatisfactory dual arrangement. Now is the opportunity for the Board to evince to the department that it is capable of dealing absolutely with local shipping.
