GAS WORKS.

MANAGER’S REPORT.

At last night’s council meeting the gas manager’s report was read as follows 1 : — I have to report this month that the apparatus has worked well and is all in fairly good condition. One new service has been fitted for Mr Cockrane, Cook street. We have had plenty of outside work to do and all has been done as speedily as possible. Mr J. Carey, the new stoker, commenced his duties at the works on the 11 tli. As this is tile end of our year I have to report that the make of gas was 0,102,800 cubic feet, and the accounted for 5,607,200 cubic feet for the 12 months. This is a slight decrease both in tiie make and the sales; the unaccounted averages out at 8.3 per cent, which is a slight decrease on last year.

The coal carbonized averaged out at 10.479 cubic feet per ton. Also eleven new services have been added hut we lost two good consumers during the year.
