JEMMIES FROM PRISON FORGE
ESCAPEE RECAPTURED.
Te Awanmtu, Last Night.
A prisoner named Kenneth Armstrong, who was serving a sentence at the Waikeria reformatory, escaped on Tuesday night, and was recaptured this morning several miles away in the Maihi district and was returned to the institution. A report was current that a well-plan-ned attempt to manufacture housel> re ah in a; implements at the prison smithy was made by Armstrong and a fellow prisoner named Charles Fluty, recently discharged from the institution. The latter went to Christchurch and was arrested thorp four days ago. chained with llm theft of prison property and remanded to Te Aramutn.
A third party, named Horace Cootnhridge. employed as sharemilker, oil a farm near the institution. alleged to be concerned in the srl cm-. was arrested .charged with complicity and was remanded until Wednesday next.
