Is Rugby a religion? Judging
by an event which occurred at a town in the hush district it is, for a municipal function was postponed for half an hour in order not to clash with a football match which was being played in an adjacent paddock (says the Wairarapa Age).
A correspondent of the London Observer, who has seen Rugby in New Zealand, South Africa, New South Wales, England. Scotland and France during the past two seasons, expresses the opinion that in s pite of England’s great improve - •ment, the All Blacks will just beat England next season. He says
that the New Zealand forwards will hold their own against the II akefield men, while their hacks make better use of their chances than England’s opponents have done (his season. The English inside hacks will he superior to the New Zealanders, but with a vigorous set of forwards to contend with they will be up against the hardest proposition of their careers. Tf they emerge triumphant, “great" will he an adequate word )>y which lo describe them.
