RIFLE SHOOTING
The second shoot for Messrs Collinson and Son’s trophy was held on the local range on Saturday, 10 .-Jiots at 500 yards. The weather conditions were good when shooting began. A. Barnard again secured a possible and C. Barnard 40. The weather then changed to a rear fish tail wind, which gave the other riflemen a great deal of trouble. The shooting was good, under the prevailing conditions, the new members, Messis Salmon. Hart and Hughes, doing especially well. These new members should develop into first-class marksmen with a little practice. The Cadets attached to the club also fined for a medal donated by Mr Walsh and £1 donated by Mr Rand. The boys shot exceedingly well under the conditions. The early training they are reeeiv ing from local club members should assist them to become expert marksmen. Next Saturday the final shoot for Messrs Collinson and Son’s trophy will be held at 500 yards range. The secretary has received programmes from the Horowhenua Rifle Association, which meeting is to be held on Easter Monday. The following are the scores of last Saturday's shoot: — A. Barnard 50, C. Barnard 46 (hdep. 1) 47; J. Hartley 45 (2) 47; C. Rand, 41 (6) 47; N. Hughes 42 11. Salmon 42. C. Hart 41. Cadet Head 34 (wins Mr Walsh’s medal), Cadet Delany 34, 7/6, Cadet Tyer 32, 5/-; Cadet Hartley 29, 2/6; Cadet Chrystall 21, 2/6; Cadet Walsh 20, 2/6.
