BAND CARNIVAL.

[Published by Arrangement.]

The following is an abstract from a comprehensive circular that is being printed for circularisation to every householder throughout Foxton, Shannon and the surrounding districts. It sets out a synopsis of a bright programme that is calculated to benefit business houses in Foxton, and Shannon, by monster day-light and lantern processions in these centres, which is expected to attract an influx of visitors from the adjacent districts. Business houses will benefit by interesting street events in the fore-noon. Under the heading “Commencement of Carnival,” the circular reads: “The Executive, having a very large district area to organise, and the time necessary to get in touch with the many Bands throughout New Zealand in connection, with the Carnival, leaves much that has yet to be done in laying the lines of preliminary organisation, proper preparation is the Executive’s first step, persistence its second. The Executive are aiming high, and realise that a Carnival of this discription cannot be left to shape itself. Committees are asked to nominate their Queens and decide upon the Queen colours as soon as possible, and forward same to the Organiser. As soon as the whole ground of preliminary organisation is covered, the Queen candidates and their secretaries wifi be notified of a date for “The Queen Opening Ceremony Entertainment,” in the Municipal Theatre, when the candidates will be introduced to the public by representative speaker’s, nominated by their committees. During the entertainment the Queen secretaries will, on behalf of their Queens, draw an article for guessing competition donated by the Executive. All candidates will benefit in votes according to the colour and sale of admission tickets sold in their behalf. In the meantime the Queen candidates and their workers may go in for immediate preparation, and except for the sale of admission tickets when ready, they wll not seek votes until after the presentation of Queens at their entertainment. For Queen colours the Executive suggest for consideration: Sports, blue; Citizens’, pink; Fibre, Yellow; Firebrigade, red; Farmers, green.”
