TRAGIC HYPNOTISM
SUBJECT COMMITS MURDER
Tragedy that followed comedy horrified the spectators at an exhibition of hypnotism given by nn Austrian professor at Sebenieo, on the Adriatic.
After successfully hypnotising various members of the audience, the professor called a policeman to the stage, hypnotised him. and made him dance and sing-. Then the professor placed a piece of wood in the man’s hand and told him that it was a revolver. He ordered him to shoot into the audience and afterwards arrest the people who were making- a disturbance. The policeman did as he was told but. apparently finding that the pi ere of wood did not work. he suddenly drew his revolver and fired into the audience, killing three people and wounding several others. Then he dashed among the audience and started to march two men to the police station. Tt was with the greatest difficulty that the policeman could he brought to his senses. When he learned what he had done be went mad. and he is now in a mental hospital. The professor was arrested.
