BAND CARNIVAL
The .Mayor (Air-J. Chryslall) presided over a public meeting last night to further the Band carnival. Air Madden .submitted a statement showing the hand's indebtedness and i equirements. Mr -J. Colder, organiser. reported upon Die formation of : mumillecs Lor the various quei-iis. lie reported Dial the Eire Brigade had selected their queen nil: iidalc and the representative of Dm Failed Sports Association said that a meeting of that body would be held to consider the selection of a united sports queen. In reference to the citizens' queen

A mol.-., a «as carried to the cited that a recommenda I ion be forv. arded to the Hand Commit tee asking that the registered name of the band, namely "tile Koxtou Silver Hit ud." lie altered to t lx- “Citizens’ Silver Hand, 1 oxioii.’" It was pointed out that the change in name would ensure I lie eoiilidettce of the public ami dispel the erroneous impression hi the minds of some that the hand was privately owned by t he organiser. Mr Colder explained in reference lo the above that lit- paid the deposit mi llie instruments lo ensure the formation of the hand and to provide music for the citizens and to benetit charitable and oilier deserving objects. He said the registration of tin- hand was to avoid tin- possibility of instillments going as I ray as in the past. The question of appointing trustee,- was held over until after the ca rnivai.
A further meeting of the executive will lie held after the various organisations have selected their candidates.
