GAS WORKS.

JANUARY WORKING

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of January was 487,(100 c.ft., which with the amount iji the holder on January Ist, 16, 00U ft., made a total of 503,600 ft. During file month 306.300 ft. of gas was used by consumers, 20,000 ft. in street lamps, 27,500 ft. at the works and there was 17,600 ft. in the holder on February Ist. making a total of 461,400 ft. and leaving 38,200 ft., representing 7.5 per cent., unaccounted for. Forty-one lons of coal were carbonised during the month, yielding 11.803 c.ft. to I lie ton.

The receipts for the month totalled .€252 14 / 2 and were made up as follows: Gas sales (lighting) £lO5 1.5 1. heat and power £lO4 15/-, coke sales £25 5/0. tar sales £2 0/-. til lings £0 17/2, labour services 5s Od, do., fittings £1 5/-, services 3/3, miscellaneous £2 18/2. The payments made during the month totalled £236 16/7 and were ns follows: Coal £IOO 16/6, salaries and wages £63 4/8, fittings £l2 16/3, sundries 7/6, Interest and .Sinking Fund £59 11/8. In adopting the report it was decided that no more tar should be sold at present, in order that the Johnston St. test tar-sealed piece should be able to get another coat.
