MOUTOA SCHOOL ANNUAL PICNIC.

The Moutoa School annual picnic was held on Friday last in Mr Camknock’s paddock. The weather, though threatening in the morning, turned out fine, much to the joy of the young people. A very enjoyable day was spent, old and young joining in- the games and rhces were run for the young folk who showed their athletic abilities. After lunch most of the younger children played rounders and cricket while the parents sat under the shade of trees. The prizes were given out during the afternoon as follows: — Verncr Pigott, dux of school, Alison Campbell, top of Std. V., Athol Anderson, top of Std. IV., Phyllis Halley, top of Std. 111., Mollie Verity, top of Std. 11., Clarence Anderson, top of Std. I. Progress prizes: Std. V., Minnie Lampp; Std. TV., Nita; Standard HI., Eddie Eder; Std. 11., Ernest Southie; Std. 1, Tommy Rauhiki; Special for agriculture: Russell Baildon: sewing: Dulcie Boswell. Verner Pigott and Lindsay Triggell are the school tennis champions for 1923 and their names are to he engraved on the tennis cup donated by the Moutoa Tennis Club. Each child received a book. The headmaster wishes to thank the committee, parents and helpers who all did their bit to ghe the kiddies a rattling good day.
