SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The meeting of the local State school committee was held last night. Present Messrs Homblow (chairman), R. Rangiheuea, (secretary), Cowley, Jno. R-oss, Stevenson, C. Pearson and the head master (Mr Banks). The chairman reported upon the recent visit- to the school of the Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister for Education, particulars of which have been previously published. The secretary" reported that acknowledgment and the committee’s thanks had been conveyed to all who had assisted with funds and contributions to the annual school picnic. The balance-sheet re picnic was held over owing to Mir Coley’s unavoidable absence.

Accounts amounting to £4l 13/8 were passed for payment.

In reply to Mr Pearson, the chairman said the Minister had agreed lo the proposed aquisition of the section adjoining the girls’ playground and the matter would be further dealt with when the consent of one of the owners was obtained. Correspondence was received from the Board re the appointment of Miss Joyce McMurray as a probationer; notifying that the architect would visit the school aud report re certain matters which had been referred to the Board.
