YOUNG WOMAN’S TRAGIC DEATH.
AN OPEN VERDICT. Wellington, Last Night.
Ail open verdict was returned at the coroner's inquest on Olive Scott, aged 25, whose body with the neck broken, was found at the foot of the cliffs at Lyall Bay. Evidence was given that deceased was not in tlu- best of health, and had been ordered to take chlorodyne for her complaint. The police evidence was that at the top of the cliff, where some articles belonging to deceased were found an empty bottle of chlorodyne was discovered. The medical evidence was that there was no trace of chlorodyne in the stomach of deceased. The coroner said at first it seemed the circumstances were suspicious, and it looked to him that deceased might have attempted suicide, but the medical evidence disproved that. In Hie circumstances, lie could only leturn an open verdict.
