At Monday night’s Council meeting the road foreman reported as follows:

“During the past month the road staff has been engaged on the fol lowing work: — Grubbing lupins, in Victoria Park top dressing Wharf street and portions of Main street footpaths, trimming up and making passable footpath on the west side of Main street. South, asphalting yard Town Hall cottage, trimming willows Johnson street approach to Whyte Street, tar-sealing strip of road 12ft, wide, Johnston street, and general maintenance. With reference to tar-sealing in Johnston street, this needs to be gone over again within a short time to ensure its being of lasting benefit. The traffic in this street is particularly heavy and will practically all go over this strip 12ft. wide, instead of being distributed as in Main street. The test will therefore be severe, would strongly advocate getting line Bel mount screenings for this work when it is gone on with as the ordinary river sand is too line. Re Whyte Street approach:—The willows' in Johnston street having been cut down the view would be eiear except for the boxthorn hedge growing on the south side. This should be cut down to the level of: fence as it is almost as great an obstruction as the willows were.

Sixty yards of Manawatu County metal has lately come to hand and ruts on Sandon Road and hack of Victoria Park have been patched. The remainder of metal will be used as required.
