MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.

ABSCONDER. BEFORE THE COURT. Wellington, Last Night. Thomas Sheihan, who absconded 10 years ago when liberated on bail on a charge of manslaughter, was before the Supreme Court to-day. It was alleged that, on the night of February 7th, 1914, he killed Frank Revell on the Hutt Road. It was stated that through the negligence of the prisoner, Revell, who was riding a motor cycle, collided with the vehicle Sheihan was driving. It was alleged that while ltevell’s machine carried a light, the prisoner, who had had some drinks at an hotel, proceeded on his way after dark without lights. Prisoner said deceased was on the wrong side of the road. He was persuaded by friends to leave the Dominion. The jury, after a lengthy retirement, returned a verdict of not guilty.
