NEW POLICE STATION.

The Public Works Department has accepted the tender of Mr H. E. Townshend, of Palmerston North, for the erection of the new police station to replace the present dwelling, which has been condemned to demolition, it having done service for the past forty years. The new building will be constructed of brick and will be of neat design and should fill the requirements for police accommodation for many years. The contract price accepted was 12,948 and the new dwelling is to bo ready for occupation by the beginning of July. During the period of reconstruction Constable Owen will reside in Cook Street. Elsewhere in this issue tenders are invited for the sale and removal of the old building.
