The Bolsheviks are reported to have adopted a new naval ensign, resembling that of Japan (the Rising Sun) consisting of a white sun emitting rays on a red background with a crossed hammer and stickle in the rays.
The Petrol Times (writes a London correspondent) devotes a page
in its latest issue to petroleum prospects in New Zealand. The information is obtained from an article written for “Chemistry and Industry,” hv Professor T. X. Ea.-lerlield and Mr. N. MeLelhmd. and from the annual reports of the New Zealand Minos Department. "Oil prospects in the Dominion arc seldom referred to, hut it seems ihey are by no means negligible." Work is expected to begin shortly upon a seven-storey building in one of Wellington’s best residential areas, to be fashioned upon the American plan of flats, of which the individual occupiers will be aide (<> secure the perpetual rights. The cost is estimated at about .t'60,000. The building is to be of ferro concrete, sound-proof and designed to resist earthquake shocks. Twentyeight fiats will he provided and oil each of the seven floors will he grillrooms. A roof garden will top off the building.
