WOOL SALES.
DUNEDIN SERIES OPENS. Dunedin, Last Night. X lie second wool sale of the season opened to-night. Buyers were present from every country interested in ihe manufacture of woollen goods and competition was very keen. The total catalogues comprised about. 25,500 bales. The quality was hardly up In the high standard of! last season, but there was a proportion of very useful wools and many lots of very superior quality. As far as the sale has gone prices are very snfaVlacfory, in many cases exceeding expectations. The highest price was 31d for firsi combing quarterbred. Merino wools did not meet with such keen competition as balf-breds and three-qua-r----ter-breds. SYDNEY SALES. Sydney, January 28. At the wool sales, competition was keen. The market was very strong for lines showing fine quality values advancing- 5 per cent. Greasy Merino sold to Hid.
