MONTHLY MEETING. The Man a watu County Conuc met at Sanson yesterday. In the ab sence of the Chairman, Couneillo Hunt presided. There were als present: Councillors J. F. MeKelvit H. Fagan, J. Boyce, and W. li Barber. To connection with a decision o No. 9 Highway Board committee the Council decided to take tallies as required, and appointed Crs Hunt, MeKelvie and Fagan t.< make arrangements. In connection with the decisioi lo formulate uniform by-laws fo: neighbouring counties, the subjec was deferred to a special meeting of the Council. The medical officers of healtl wrote to the Council complainim about the unsanitary state of th< Foxton and Rougoten stock sail yards, and stating that the license would be withheld until the inspector was satisfied that the yard? were made sanitary.—Received. In consequence of the retiremon on account of ill health of Mr F Florence, tramway fireman, the Council appointed Mr E. J. Bowatei of Sanson, to fill the vacancy. If was decided to sell 50 tons of second-hand 281 b rails at £9 pei ton, and to sell, in limited quantities, damaged rails to ratepayers only. The tramway account showed a debit- of £67 4/- for the month’s working. The chief items of traffic were: Merchandise 106 J tons; cheese, 1094 tons, minerals 994 tens, sheep, etc. 109 trucks, metal 500 cubic yards. Fares amounted iu £1 19/2. —Adopted.
