ALLEGED RINGING-IN.
ARREST OF THE DRIVER. Dunedin, January 9. In connection with the racing sensation, in which it is alleged that Willie Lincoln was raced as “Lookout” at the Southland New Year meeting, William Williamson, aged 32, a resident of Christchurch, the driver of the horse at Invercargill, was arrested to-day by Detective Lean and charged with attempting to obtain the sum of £l5B 10/- from the Southland Racing Club by false pretences. The real “Look-out” reached Dunedin early this morning by slow train from-the north and was “arrested” by the detectives on arrival. of Police'at Ctfristehurelr received word’from. the south to-day that “Look-out” has been definitely identified as Willie Lincoln,'‘ the Canterbury pacer 1 . It is understood, . cases of alleged ringing-in are being investigated by the New Zealand Trotting Association.
