OBITUARY
MRS B. SPELMAN.
An old and very widely-known resident of this district in the person of Mrs Bridget Spelman, wife of Mr Patrick Spelman, of 7 Massey St. r Palmerston North, died at her residence on Tuesday morning after a short ill ness. Tiie late Mrs Spelman. who was 52 years of age, arrived in the Colony from Ireland 50 years ago. and took up her residence with her parents at Foxton. After her marriage in 1901. she removed to Rnntnni. in the Pohangina Valley, and took an active part in the pioneering wor 1 : •’ • loeality, assistin„’ in miiiag i.r her hnshand and herself, a home in the dense native hush there. Tn 1920, Mr and Mrs Spelman went to Palmerston North and took up their residence in Mns-.-■ey St., where they have lived ever since. The deceased lady left a wide circle of friends, as well as her hnshand and a family of nine children- —1 sons and five daughters —to monrii her demise. The sons are; Messrs C. and T). Spelman. Unnnmi, and P. Spelman ,jr., of Palmerston North, and the daughters: Mrs W. Laird, Palmerston North, Mrs A. Balmer, Pohangina. Misses F.., M. and C. Spelman, Palmerston North. The funeral took place to-day.
