THE HEMP MARKET
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The High Commissioner’s cablegram, dated the 15th December*, reads *. —“Hemp, Manila market, opened quiet but more tirm towards the middle of the week, closing quiet to steady; ‘J’ grade, Deceinber-Feb-ruary shipmets, sold at £34 perfon; January-March shipments £33 15s per ton; ‘G’ grade quoted at £39 per ton and values. The output from the Ist June to 30th November this year* is 1,363,000 bales, a--gainst 1,70,000 for the same period last year. Stocks in Manila on the 30th November 155,000 bales against 157,000 bales for the same time last year, stocks in Great Britain 15,961 bales against 7,884. “New Zealand market steady, Small business has beeu done in high points at £33 5/- per ton; prer sent values high points £33 per ton; fair grade £3l 5/- per ton.”
