GAS WORKS
OCTOBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of October was 474,500 c.ft., which with the amount, in the holder on October Ist., 18,400 ft., made a total of 492,900 ft. During the month 391,000 it. was used by consumers, 20,000 fti in the street lamps, 25,500 ft. at the works and there was 14,800 ft. in the holder on November Ist., making a total of 451,300 ft. and leaving 41,600 ft., representing 8.7 per cent., unaccounted for. During flic month 43 tons of coal were carbonised, providing 11,035 c.ft. of gas to the ton. The earnings for the month were as follows: —Gas sales (lighting), £llß 12/10, heat and power, £llO 6/7, coke sales £43 19/7, far sales £47 8/-, fittings £lO 12/-, services £l4 13/5, do., fittings 3/6, miscellaneous £2 12/6, making a total of £348 8/5. The expenditure for the month totalled £349 10/3, and was made up as follows: —Coal £llO 18/10, salaries and wages £64 SJII, services £1 14/3, fittings £2B 12/1, meters £ls, audit fee £lO, tools 15/-, phone removal 17/6, sundries 10/3, drainage connections £57 4/8, Interest and Sinking Fund £59 11/8. GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported as follows on the works during the past month: —The apparatus is working quite satisfactorily and all is in fairly good order’. We have had to clear out several choked services this month. This month I hope to paint the holder with tar and repair. the stokehouse roof. There is enough coal on hand to last until April*next. There is still a good demand for.coke. —Adopted.
