The second game for the Nye Ferns this season was played yesterday afternoon, the challenging rink being skipped bv Barr. The game was somewhat one-sided as regards the scores, but nevertheless was very enjoyable, the weatherconditions being very favourable. ' Three fours, a five and a six were recorded during the play, making the game somewhat remarkable on this account. Barr led off with a four on the first- head, and one on the second, but the third recorded a four in favour of Koore. On the seventh head Barr was eight and 1 Roore six, but from then on Roore’s rink did most of the scoring, the game ending, Roore 33, Barr 10. The following are the rinks: — Thomson, Huntley, Smith, Roore (s), 33, Simpson, Downes, Admore, Barr (s), 10. The final game in the third round of the Stevenson Penants competition was played yesterday afternoon, between Ross and Ball, the result being as follows: — Ross and Mattar 26, Ball and Walton 12. Three pairs have qualified for the finals, viz., Ross and Mattar, Stohr and Simpson, and Roore and Whibley. The draw resulted:—Ross and Mattar v. Stohr and Simpson; Roore and Whihley a bye. Play in the Wilford Cup contest lias now commenced, and on Monday Smith met Whibley in the first round, resulting in a win for Whibley by one point (19 —18), after a hard-fought game. Healey met Pearson yesterday afternoon in this competition, the resultant scores being:—Pearson 22, Healey 13. Simpson also met Walker, and the game resulted in favour of Simpson by 25 to 19. Two games of the second round were also played, the results being: Smith 28 v. Walton 20; Ball 34 v. Thomson 15. The first round of the Triangular Contest is set down to take place at Shannon on Wednesday next, and the Club handicapper has selected the following two rinks to represent! I he Club: — Pearson, Christie, Smith, Nye (s); Ball, Huntley, Jno. Ross, Roore (s). Emergencies: Admore and Stohr. It has been decided to hold a pairs tournament on the local green on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, as in past years, the conditions governing last- Labour Day tournament to apply.
