A NOTEWORTHY EVENT. AT SIT OF WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS. Residents of Foxton and surrounding districts will, no doubt, he delighted at the somewhat unexpected announcement that the famous Westminster Glee Singers, who are paying a brief return visit to New Zealand under the auspices of His Excellency, the Governor-Gen-eral, Viscount .lellicoc, C.M., G.C.8., G.C.V.0.. prior to their departure for England, via South Africa, are to give a grand farewell concert at the Town Hall on Tuesday next. This talented company recently broke all records in Australia. As to he expected, the visit of these delightful singers is creating a wonderful interest for it is seldom, indeed, that we have Hie opportunity of hearing such artists and enjoying an entertainment which makes such a wide appeal. There i.s mi indeseriable charm about the voice of a hoy soprano, it is so sweet, and ns with hoys from the great Cathedrals of the Old Land who have been specially trained in the London College of Choristers, their enunciation is perfect and their hearts in every word they sing. The adult portion of the choir is as follows: Altos: Messrs Donald Reid and William Lowry: tenors: Messrs Edward Rranseombe, Ellis Vizard, George Pownall; basses: Messrs John Andrews and Alfred Cuninglmm. The box plan will be opened to-morrow morning and as booking will, no doubt, he exceptionally heavy, intending patrons are advised to book their seats and so avoid disappointment.

COSMO HAMILTON'S NOVEL ON THE SCREEN. “The Rustle of Silk,” by the famous author of “Scandal,” “Midsummer Madness,” etc., to wit, Cosmo Hamilton, will he the leading feature in to-morrow evening’s Cabaret. programme at the Town Hall. The featured players arp both tarnous. Betty Compson, recently successful in “The White Flower,” has the chief feminine role, whilst Conway Tearle, of “One Week of Love” fame, plays the male star part. Anna Q. Nillson is also in the cast. The story is too novel and delightfully refreshing to expose here, and thus spoil the enjoyment of the screening, suffice to say that it has a. happy ending that doesn’t include a marriage or an embrace. The two-reel comedy will be “Helpful Hogan,” whilst a special sporting gazette, and a travelogue are also on the bill. Usual Cabaret prices, 1/- everywhere, children halfprice! Tom Mix in an entirely original role, in “Arabia,” will be screened on Saturday night with a special Sunshine animal comedy as a supporting item. FIRPO FIGHT. This fight is between Lois Firpo and Kid MeAuliffe, and was the first fight at the new Yankee Stadium, New York, and took place before 125,000 people. The fight went three rounds, and in the third round Firpo knocked out MeAuliffe. Slow motion photography shows the last two minutes before the end, and demonstrates punch by ■punch the gigantic fighting machine Lois Firpo is.

Supporting the Firpo-McAuliffe fight, in the same picture, Jess Willard stages his come-back, and in a fourteen-round bout with Floyd Johnson, one of the coining lightheavies of America, he proves again the old contention that brains and science can often combat old age, and make a successful comeback. The prices will be Is and Is (id, children half-price. "Don Quickshot of the Rio Grande” presents a typical western cowboy in a typical western play. It is a Universal photo drama of the southwest cattle country starring Jack Hoxie, and will be shown locally for the first time at the Royal Theatre on Thursday. The story was adapted to the screen by George Hivly from a magazine story by Stephen Chalmers. In addition, a comedy, “Don’t Get Fresh,” will be screened.
