DRAGGED TO DEATH BY HORSES.
Whnngarei, 3rd December. When George Wilfred Bartley, a farmer, was attempting to effect repairs to swingle-trees behind horses in the Wheki Valley, fifteen miles from Whangarei, this morning, the animals bolted. The trace chain twined round Bartley’s wrist, and he was dragged 200 yards, his head striking a log with fatal results. He leaves a widow and two young children.
