The lirst game foi‘ the Nye Ferns this season was contested yesterday afternoon between rinks skipped bv Roore and Christie. Both Smith and Pearson are out of the finals, so the result of their game, if played, will have no effect. Ross and Mattar have a bye and a win and their final match with Ball and Walton will decide w-hether they qualify for the finals or not. So far those left in the finals are Simpson and Stohr (s) and. Whibley and Roore (s) with three wins each. It has been finally decided that the first round of the Triangular Contest will be held at Shannon on Wednesday, —l9th December. The date first suggested by Levin Club was the 12th inst., but owing to the Swimming Club’s opening carnival being fixed for that date, Foxton desired an alternative day, and so the 19th was finally accepted.,

A match was played at Masterton on Saturday for the Dixon Cup and Tucker Badges, Pahiatua being the challengers. The weather was excellent and the green played perfectly. The holders, skipped by Kerr proved too strong a combination for the challengers, the game ending: Masterton 28, Pahiatua 9. A Terrace End club rink are the next challengers for the cup.
