KAIWAKA TUNNEL DISASTER.
ONE BODY RECOVERED. THE SURVIVOR’S HARROWING EXPERIENCE. DIGGING CONTINUED. Napier, December 3. The body of one of the entombed men in Kaiwaka tunnel was located at 8 o’clock this morning, but on account, of the difficult nature of the work il is not expected (o extricate him till this evening. Il >s thought death was instantaneous in the ease of this man, also in that of the oilier missing one, who, it is supposed, will he found six or eight feet further in the tunnel. Since the first fall of earth, several hundred tons more of material have fallen, completely blocking the passage. Workers, are engaged continuously day and night in the task of recovering the bodies. Napier Last Night. The body of Mr Hohensee was extricated from the Kaiwaka Tunnel early this morning and brought to Napier. An inquest was formally opened and adjourn!. The deceased was aged about 37 years. The workers have not, yet found the body of Mr O’Mahoney.
