POWER BOARD OPERATIONS.
CONTRACT LET FOR SHANNON INSTALLATION. LINKING HP CONSTJAIERS. A report was made to the meeting of the TTorowhenua Power Board on Tuesday by (lie Engineer, Air Over! on, mi the progress of work in the Power District. The tender of ATessrs R. J. Walls and Co. (AYellinglon) for complete installation in Shannon. (.‘1.213 19s 2d. was accepted. The prices average approximately .92 Ml per point for lighting, and 37s (id per point for heating. Installation Canvassing: The second group radiating from Shannon borough and along the Levin-Shan-non Rd. has been completed and finder.- are advertised. This particular group con-i-ls of 8 lighting, 9 milking motor .plants and 7 hot water in-l a lla I ions. The third group i- now being formed hot ween Shalloon mid Poston and lo dale 13 lighting-, 7 milking motor plants, 4 hot water and 1 range installations have been hooked up. The total i.umber of installations under the Board'- grouping system has now readied the following figures:—— Light ing- insl a Hat ions .. 170 Alilking motors 10 Motors for general power 3 Hot water services 14 Cooking ranges 7 The polo contract is practically completed. Samuel Brown Ltd., have inside all deliveries, and A. C. Brown has yet about 200 scraped poles to ship. Since last meeting a shipment of poles ex “Kaituna” has been received and despalelied throughout the district, totalling 085. Twentysix out of this number have not been passed for payment in the class for which they have been marked, hut can he taken as a lower class and at reduced rales provided that an agrecmejit to this effect can he made with the suppliers. Since last meeting 515 poles have been carted out. The Fox ton dump which is in un awkward situation lias been cleared. No. 1 gang has completed the Shannon-Foxton line, and the borough of Foxton, with the exception of about 29 poles in Main Street and 35 poles between the main north load al Barber's and the river.
No. 2 gang have completed the greater portion of the Levin borough and have creeled poles between Ohaii and Olaki borough boundary.
Advice has been received that a shipment of 39 tons of wire will arrive in Foxton on Monday. This material will be run round from Le- \ in via Shannon lo Foxton.
