IMPERSONATION AT EXAM
forgery charge follows. Dunedin, Last Night. An unusual case was heard at the Police Court to-day, Gordon Slcwart McLanglan. and Herbert Hall Webb being charged with forging an examination paper on general hygiene for the teachers’ D. certificate, while Stewart Bell MaeLennan was charged with forging a slip for the practical music test. McLanglan went to the hygiene examination in the name of and in the place of Webb, and signed the slip in Webb’s name, McLennan impersonating McLanglan. All the accused admitted the offence when seen by the examination supervisors. For the defence, it was contended that the charge did not come within the definition of forgery, as laid down in the Crimes Act, as authority was given by the students for the impersonation. The Magistrate reserved bis decision.
