We have just received from the. publishers, Messrs Gordon and Go fell (Anst.) Lid., per Mr R. L. Ileath, the following latest magazines :

Weldon's Ladies' Journal, November No.—This number not only gives all the latest; and smartest styles but also includes designs that will enable any woman to save money. There is a handsome supplement in photogravure ot“ (lie latest. London and Paris styles, a gratis transfer of Oriental motifs and bordering for working on dresses, jumpers, wraps, fancy articles, etc. The gratis patterns enclosed are a new long coat, smart jumper and French nightdress and explicit directions are given for making up. There are dozens of other interesting items which we cannot go into but this number of Wcldpn’s Ladies’ Journal should find a. place in every home. It’s worth getting, “The Violet Magazine,” dated the 7th September, is packed wiih tales of love and romance, with a strong appeal to every lady. Well illustrated by first class artists, thrilling historical romance, story of the East, love story, merry story, and “Falling in Love at First Sight,” by an observant bachelor and other stories by famous- writers. A real good and interesting number. There was great opposition to my going on the stage. The following extract from a letter from a dear friend will show what the feeling was against the profession at that time. —“I wrote a long letter to P. N. last night and told him about you. I told him I feared your heart was set on trying the stage at any rate, hut I was very, very sorry as l thought you had too much natural refinement and good feeling’ and taste to go and he lost on the stage, and that I would he so glad if only something else that you would like would turn up for you before you took the. step ” From “The Truth at Last,” the autobiography of Sir Charles ITawtrey, in the October issue of the “London Magazine.”
