AN EXPLANATION.
The Town Clerk states, in regard to the statement made by him at the last meeting of the. Borough Council, when a quotation from a local firm for drainpipes was being considered, to the effect that Cr. McMurray was an “interested party,” that he has since been assured by the firm in question that such is not the ease. In connection with the above, Cr. McMurray informs us that lie made no recommendation that the pipes be procured from the firm in question, hut other things being equal, lie advocated that the Council should give preference to local firms. He says he has always advocated this principle. “Owing to the accoustie properties of the Council Chamber, I did not hear the Town Clerk’s remark but he was in error as I have no interest in the firm nor in their handling of Wellington drain pipes.”
