FOREMAN’S REPORT. At last night's Council meeting the water and drainage foreman reported as follows : —During the month I have carried out the following work: Assisting the plumber to set up; fixing broken Avater eonneelions, attending to blocked sewers, connecting householders with the high pressure water, repairing water meters, caulking outlet pipe in barrel of Avater toAver. fixing neAV rubber rings in fire plugs and guttering in one of Ihe loeal shops. When 1 was ..repairing Ibis main T found it was n new and could only have been broken by (lie hydrant having been slml off too quickly on a dead end main. The cost of repairing the main was £3 17/2. During the month 55 hours was spent pumping, 1 ton 6ewt. Iqr. coal used, as Avell as 15 pints of oil. The total cost of pumping Avas £lO 9/5,' Avorking out at 6|d per 1,000 gallons. The total amount of re\enue from outside work was £8 8s fid.

The Alayor suggested that tho Fire Board should pay for the damage done to the main. Cr. Coley: Rot ! If you had treated the Fire Board fairly before you might liaA'e got something out of them. Cr. Smith said the break Avas due to inexperience, not negligence. It was decided to write to the fire brigade and to ask them to exercise more care in future. Tt Avas decided to adopt the report and complimentary comments were made on the comprehensiveness of the report.
