(To The Editor.) Sir, —I would like a little space to congratulate Cr. Ross and those Councillors who are supporting a combined loan for public swimming baths and library on a very suitable site and I hope they will stick to their guns and see the thing through They are bound to come up against opposition and side-stepping, but the public is behind the proposal because they are in the interests of the town and will make it more attractive and pleasurable to residents and visitors. One point, too sir, should not be overlooked and that is that both proposals will be revenue producing. The library subscriptions should total something like £SO per year and the baths should nett at least £IOO, so that the interest and sinking fund spread over a long period would be infinitisimal in comparison with the benefits to the public. Success to their efforts is the sincere wish of A RATEPAYER.
