Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1923 PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS.
THERE can he no two opinions as to the suitability of the site selected at last night’s public meeting for public swimming baths, viz. Easton Park. The decision of the meeting carries with it general public backing. The question of site being settled, it only remains for the Borough Council to arrange to submit the Joan proposal with the least possible delay. The further resolution that a public meeting be called to discuss a loan for public readingroom, library, etc., should also be given effect to so that ratepayers will be afforded an opportunity of recording their votes on the two proposals at the same poll. In connection with the public library, etc. a generous offer has been made by Mr M. R. Varnham, architect, to provide plans and specifications free of cost. These two proposals are of equal importance in the public welfare and the Council has now the authority tri push on.
