CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
There was a good attendance of members at the quarterly meeting of the local Chamber of Commerce, held last night and presided over by Mi- Hornblow (president). After routine business had been discussed, the Chamber went into committee to discuss freight charges and CQal importations through the port. Upon resuming it was decided to arrange a conference with the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce with a view to taking united action in the matter of conferring with the Railway Department. The loan proposals for swimming baths and public reading room and library were discussed and it was decided to take action in these matters.
