FOXTON TENNIS CLUB OPENS.

The Foxton Tennis Club held its opening day on Saturday afternoon. A large number of members and the general public attended. The ground had been put into tip top order, thanks to the energetic working bees. Mr C. Simmons, the president, welcomed the visitors and new members, and said he felt sure they would have a successful season, for they had very enthusiastic committees, and, with so many new members joining prospects were very bright indeed. He declared the courts open to play, but owing to the rain then coming down in torrents, all games had to be abandoned. As the ladies had provided afternoon tea, this was heartily partaken of, and if disappointed in regard to the weather, this helped to compensate somewhat for the stopping of the games.
