PROFESSOR’S OPINION. Christchurch, October 10. Professor Shelly, professor of education at Canterbury College, in referring to the Nelson proposal to revert to mixed schools, said that there was no objection to mixed schools up to 12 years of , age, but in early adolescence the sexes should be separated, although separation should be modified by giving the boys and girls means of getting into touch with one another. The experience with mixed schools showed that some were a complete success and some a complete failure.
