BOULDER CRASHES ON TO TRAIN.

Dunedin, Last Night. An exciting incident, oeenrred on the train which left Dunedin for Cromwell at 7.52 this morning. While passing the mile peg 00 chains beyond Ilindon Station, the occupants of the first-class smoker were startled by a sound resembling the explosion of a gun, which caused the carriage to tremble. The train was stopped, and it was seen that a boulder had crashed from tbe hillside and was lying on the fronf platform of tbe smoker. It bad crushed tbe iron gate into an almost unrecognisable mass, bent the stanchions and stove in the end of the carriage. The boulder was subsequently weighed and turned the. scale at 11211). A sheep had probably dislodged it from the hillside.
