BOWLING.

Bowlers are reminded that the official opening of the Bulls green takes place to-morrow and all those wishing to make the trip are advised to communicate with the secretary or president forthwith. _

Intimation has been received from the Aranawatu Club to the effect that their green null he officially opened on Saturday next, 20th insf., and inviting one ririk from Foxi on to he present.

With the near approach of the howling season, it is necessary that the matter of pushing on the preparation of the local green should receive elo>e attention, and for this purpose a working bee will lie held to-morrow afternoon, when it is hoped all who can make it convenient will he present.

At a meeting of the Ilawera Bowling Club last week, a motion was proposed that the green should he thrown open for Sunday play. After a long and -animated discussion, a division resulted in the proposal being rejected by 29 votes to 15.

At a meeting of the Dannevirke Bowling Club it was decided by 25 votes to Ci that Sunday howling he not allowed on the club’s green.

“What are the qualifications for a good bowling club secretary?” asked AD* P. O. Clark at the annual meeting of the Dannevirke Club. “A good bowler,*a good sport, and one who does not listen to all the d squabbles that come along,” he answered amid much laughter.

The official opening of the Feilding green took place on Saturday last, tlie local club being represerited by one rink composed of Alessrs J. Ross, J. Banks, H. Downes and c. Spring (s). A very pleasant function was somewhat marred by rain towards the close of play, only 16 heads being played. The game in which the Foxton team took part resulted in the scores standing at 23—9 in favour of Feilding when [day was abandoned.

The prevalence of a wireless “jam” on Saturday created a disturbance in the ether, causing the location of the magnetic centre to veer from south to east with the result that a ear load of Foxton bowlers on returning home from Feilding on Saturday evening were directed from Iheir true course and instead of making port, as antieipated, landed at Karere, via Rongotea. After taking fresh bearings, how- _ ever, they reached home safely though somewhat behind schedule, by way of the more familiar route.
