SPIRITUAL HEALING MISSION.
ADDRESS BY NURSE MAFDE. Through the untiring efforts of the Rev. W. IT. Walton overcoming all obstacles and the unselfish devotion of Nurse Maude to the cause she has at heart, the people of Foxton on Sunday afternoon, last had the opportunity of listening to one of those inspiring addresses which have been delivered with such remarkable success in other centres. In spite of the fact that time had not allowed any advertising of Nurse Maude's visit, the church was packed with a deeply interested million <‘t* who listened with keen appreciation to the simple but stirring words of the speaker. Amongst the listeners were to be noticed some of the local patients and many of the friends of those whose faith is leading them to seek the gracious influence of the Holy Spirit and the power of Christ in the forthcoming Mission. In her address Nurse Maude referred to the prevailing belief that the Mission of healing would cause a great religious revival, Ihc need of which was plainly discernible all around ns and she stressed the point that the first object of the Mission was to bring people back to God. Put it was also for the healing of those who were physically or mentally ill. Tt was very necessary to remember that God did not send disease, he only permitted it and none could deny the wonderful effect suffering had in moulding the character. In her profession;.! duties she had had many opportunities of' observing this. A very great deal depended upon a proper preparation for the Alis.-iou. In the hospitals a wound could only he healed after it had been made surgically clean. In spiritual healing there must likewise tirsi be the cleansing. Where this preparation bad received the fullest attention there had followed the best results. All healing was the gift of God lint there was natural healing and spiritual healing. Spiritual healing dealt with the whole spiritual, moraPand physical nature of man because it healed through the Divine humanity of Our Lord. Ti e [lower of God was not limited an l it was.simple for Him to heal a cancerous growth ns it was a cut tinge'. Faith was necessary and this eonid he acquired by [perseverance in prayer. The Church had been inclined to forget the third {.person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, yet u was this Holy Spirit who was the giver of life. The work of the Holy Spirit was very much in evidence arotind ns at this season of the year when life was breaking forth anew in each budding tree and flower. Nurse. Mamie spoke- of her own knowledge of Air Hickson and his development of the gift bestowed upon him and urged all her hearers In seek the development of such gifts as had been bestowed upon them by the Holy Spirit. She concluded her address by reading personal testimonials of healing she lmd received and amongst these testimonials were many expressions of the eertainity of the Divine Presence. At the conclusion of the lecture Nurse Maude made a few very brief explanations of the Lords prayer and the service was brought to a close by those present joining in this [prayer with a slight [pause between each sentence, giving time for reflection on their meaning. Mr Walton in the name of those present, thanked Nurse Alaude for coming to Fox (on in spite of the difficulties to be overcome. He felt sure everyone appreciated what she had done and had very much enjoyed the address.
