LEVIN TENNIS CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Levin Tennis Club was held on Wednesday night, Mr B. M. Kibblewliite presiding. The balance sheet showed receipts totalling £B9 11/5, including subscriptions £56 15/-, sale of balls £29 17/6. Included in the expenditure was the items of balls £55 9/2, which with sundry items brought the total up to £B3 7/9, leaving a credit balance of £6 3/S. Assets were £l7 16/8 with liabilities nil. The balance-sheet was adopted. The following was contained in the report:—“The season cannot he counted among the most successful in the club’s history, the membership showing a decrease from 75 to 63, with a corresponding loss in revenue. Many of the leading players have left the district. The record m matches piayed was not inspiring. Of seven games played only two were won. Ladder matches were played but seldom was this of any assistance to the match committee. Future Policy: Two questions the club must face are ( I ) finances must he strengthened to permit of two new courts being laid down, fences renewed and pavilion renovated. For this purpose subscriptions must be raised and the price of halls increased to cover cost of purchase; (2) play must he regulated to allow match players to mdulge in necessary practice, without debarring other players .H um their games.
