FOOTBALL.
The game between Manawatu and Canterbury was played at Christchurch yesterday before a good attendance, in fine weather. Rain overnight made the ground heavy. The game resulted: Canterbury 31, Manawatu 16.
The Manawatu backs did not reproduce the form shown in their first two games. The strong, fast rushes of the Canterbury backs and forwards were hard to stop, but the forwards played well on the holding ground, Dustin, Sly, Gothard and Carroll showing up prominently. Canterbury were undoubtedly the best team met on the tour, and their passing rushes were a treat to watch.
On Saturday Foxton Juniors will play a match with Koputaroa Juniors, the winners of the junior competition. The following will represent Foxton: — A. Walls, O. Townshend, C. Proctor, F. Proctor, A. Fuller, K. Hirini, W. Christie, S. McGregox-, A. Reid, J. Christie, W. Currie, W. Pine, H. McGregor, H. Walls, J. Huff. Emergencies : H. Burr, J. Fuller. Members are asked to put in as much practice as possible. Kick-off at 2.45 p.m. sharp.
