BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTEE’S REPORT. The following recommendations of the Works Committee were adopted at last night’s Borough Council meeting:— > SANITATION. “That owing to the reduced amount of sanitation work, the contractor be notified of an adjustment of salary to take effect as from the 30th September, 1923, viz. That the contractor be paid the nett amount of sanitation fees received so that at the end of the financial year the account shall come out square, the payments to the contractor equalling the receipts from the-pans; the contractor to have the use of the horse and cart and to maintain same in good working order, all running costs, horse feed, repairs, etc., to be paid for by the contractor. “That failing acceptance of this adjustment tenders to be called for the work at per pan. PUBLIC CONVENIENCE. “That plans and estimates for men’s convenience to be situated in Whyte St., midway between Main and Hall Sts., be obtained and submitted to the next monthly meeting.” REST ROOM FOR WOMEN. “That the front room on the right hand side downstairs at the Town Hall be set aside as a ladies’ restroom between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. except on Sundays. REMOVAL OF RUBBISH. “That in view of the heavy rates at present levied on property in the borough and the satisfactory manner in which the present rubbish contractor is carrying out his work, the committee is not prepared to recommend the institution of a compulsory rubbish removal service, but recommends to householders that they arrange with the present contractor for a weekly removal.”
